Edison Atumeyi Edime, a young political activist and youths advocate from Kogi State, has called on the Federal Government and all national security agencies to immediately confront the dangerous rise of insecurity across the country.
In a statement on Friday, Edime described the current security situation marked by kidnappings, bandit attacks, terrorism, and widespread fear as a full-blown national emergency that requires immediate strategic intervention.
According to him, Nigerians have suffered enough, and continuing to treat insecurity with slow responses and weak measures is no longer acceptable.
“Citizens are living like strangers in their own land. Every day we wake up to news of killings and kidnappings. This is not the Nigeria we should accept,” Edime stated.
He further urged the Federal Government to implement proactive rather than reactive security strategies, boost intelligence gathering and surveillance systems, as well as equip security agencies with modern resources.
He also charged government to ensure equal protection for all citizens, regardless of location or status and hold security leadership accountable for lapses.
Edime stressed that Nigerian youths will not continue to tolerate a system where innocent lives are lost and leadership responds with speeches instead of concrete action.
“The government must act now. Protect the people or step aside for those capable of securing this nation,” he warned in his bold statement.
Edime reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for a safer, more secure Nigeria where citizens can live, work, and move freely without fear.
