A rights activist, Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul, has expressed sadness over the tragic loss of lives in an accident along Abuja-Lokoja-Okene highway on Monday.
The accident which claimed lives of 5 students of Federal University Lokoja has been a recurrent issue on the highway.
In a statement on Tuesday, Comrade Miliki described the incident as one death too many.
“In the last one year, many persons have lost their lives innocently and in avoidable occurrences on that road. The location hosts federal university, the state polytechnic, an international market and this makes the federal highway an important route for many,” he said.
He called on federal and state governments, as well as Federal Road Safety Corp, the Nigeria Police and other relevant stakeholders to put heads together urgently and take actions to stop the reoccurring loss of lives and property along Felele road.
