According to one of the leading light and a traditional title holder in the community, the claims by the faceless group on a blog that the kingdom does not have defined kingmakers is a false and an insult on the people and the entire kingdom and it stands condemned.

He said from time immemorial, Kingmakers are the only recognized, established institution saddled with the responsibility of selecting a new Maiyaki in the event of any vacuum as it is today.

“Kupa is a peaceful community that is not known for any kind of crisis. The selection process is ongoing and progressing peacefully without hindrance.

“The attempts by ambitious and overzealous individual to hide under the vacuum of Maiyaki of Kupa to create confusion and anarchy and to denigrate, disclaim and denounce the revered institution – the age long Kingmakers and traditional council known as ‘Majelisa’ is unacceptable and should be condemned by all and sundry. No true son and daughter of the soil will speak ill of its revered institutions.

“If the kingdom’s Kingmakers and Majelisa is not properly defined, as claimed by the faceless group, why then did all the contenders submit their letters of intent to the two highest bodies? Nobody can change the roles, Kupa community is greater than any individual interest,” he said.

He further shed more light on the claims by the faceless group about the purported celebration.

He said what took place was simply a family affairs over the GBAMACHE Ruling House for a rancour free choice of the house and nothing more, saying many believe in some quarters that there will be disagreement among GBAMACHE House.

“It also signified two things; one, peace and second popularity over the family choice and nothing more.

“It is wrong for the faceless group to allude to it as an avenue or recipe for chaos, which is not,” he explained.

He commended all the contenders for submitting their interest before the kingdom institutions and the peace among them so far.

The community thanked the Lokoja traditional council headed by Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi for his role so far in handling the Maiyaki stool.
