Ex-Speaker Imam Drums Support for New Kogi Assembly Leadership

The immediate past Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Ahmed Umar Imam has pledged his support and loyalty to the new leadership of the 6th Assembly.

He disclosed this on the floor of the House at the Assembly complex during the Thursday plenary.

The former stressed that the 6th Assembly is one united family and as such there is no division in the House.

He used the opportunity to appreciate his colleagues, management and staff of the Kogi State House of Assembly for their unflinching support and cooperation during his reign as Speaker.

Imam, who represents Lokoja I state constituency, said it was an opportunity for him to serve the state, hence he implored his colleagues to give the same support and cooperation accorded him to the current leadership led by Rt. Honourable Mathew Kolawole.

He said the new Speaker should count himself lucky having two former Speakers of the 6th Assembly and other veteran lawmakers on the floor whose experience will enhance his performance.

While responding to the motion moved by Hon. Eneche Ojochenemi Linus under matter of urgent public importance on the need to caution the general public against trespassing on the State House of Assembly land, Imam briefed the House on his recent involvement on the same issue where he interfaced with relevant agencies of government and he was made to understand the true position of things on the land which he availed the House.

He also supported the motion which was referred to House Committee on Land and House Committee on Physical Rural and Urban Development to carry out a thorough investigation and report back to the House in one week.

Responding, the new Speaker thanked and appreciated the former Speaker for his maturity and understanding. He assured that he will be counting on their experiences to succeed. He promised to run an all inclusive government.
