A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Chairman of Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area in Kogi State, Hon. Mathew Keyi has commended Senator Smart Adeyemi for his decision to dump the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued in Abuja, Keyi described the decision of Senator Adeyemi as in tandem with the political mood and realities of the State as clearly reflected in the result of the last gubernatorial election which showed the APC as the preferred choice of the people in Kogi State.
Keyi who is also the Chairman of the Forum of Kogi State Former Local Government Chairmen in APC noted that as former president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, a two – term Senator and astute entrepreneur, Senator Adeyemi comes on board of the APC with rich political experience needed at the period of urgent national reconstruction.
Keyi observed that Adeyemi’s defection to APC is a wake-up call on other genuine patriots especially in Kogi State still hibernating under the PDP umbrella to have a re-think and embrace the national rebirth agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He averred that after 16 years of misrule by the PDP, the future of Nigeria certainly does not belong to the Party. He said it is therefore a cheerful development for Senator Adeyemi, a man noted for progressive and people’s centred politics to return to his natural habitat with his teeming supporters.
Like other men of history, Keyi is confident that Adeyemi’s entrance into the APC would add value in the true sense of establishment a human – centred political agenda for our people in Kogi State
He observed that the last 13 years of PDP’s rule in Kogi State has been very challenging and that a reconstruction of the state of affairs in Kogi State requires concerted effort by all well-meaning patriots from the State, operating on the platform of the APC.
He noted further that Senator Adeyemi’s expression of total confidence in the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari to turn-around the Nigeria economy and enthrone a new social order is reassuring.
He joined other compatriots in welcoming Senator Adeyemi into the APC family.
