Ex-NMA President, Dr Omede Bags ‘Commander of Igala Kingdom’ Award

A former National President of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Dr Omede Idris and two others have been conferred with the ‘Commander of Igala Kingdom’ title by the national body of Igala Cultural and Development Association (ICDA)

Omede alongside chief of staff to Kogi state governor, Edward Onoja and the convener of Igala Unity Prayer Conference, Dr. Abu Moses Amodu were honoured by ICDA on Saturday at Igala Unity House, Anyigba.

Speaking at the ceremony, the national president of ICDA, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Amodu, said the awards were in recognition of the recipients’ unflinching commitment and dedicated service to the Igala nation and Kogi state.

Speaking with newsmen after the ceremony, Dr Omede Idris, a former Governorship aspirant who stepped down his ambition for the overwhelming interest of the state, thanked the ICDA for considering him worthy of the award. He stated that he didn’t know his modest contribution to human and infrastructural development over time was been noted.

Omede dedicated the award to ICDA Adamawa state chapter, where he cut his teeth, and the people of Igala Kingdom.

The former President Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) and former Commissioner of Health in Kogi state called on all to be human, economic and infrastructural development focus for the good of the kingdom, Kogi state and the nation under a peaceful and ambient environment.

He called on all to be wary of trouble shooters whose are always bent on breeding disharmony, distrust and destruction in the society.

Dr. Omede, a former President of Inikpi Club of Nigeria, was also named as a member of the 2019 Italo Cultural Festival planning committee.

The central planning committee is responsible for the organisation of this year’s Italo festival, a reverred Igala cultural occasion to be held later this year.

The committee was inaugurated by the Attah Igala, Dr Michael Idakwo Ameh-Oboni II who was represented by Ejeh Dekina, Dr Usman Obaje.

Chairman of the committee is the former executive chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, Chief Adejoh Akowe while Ustaz Umoru Uthman Ogbo will serve as secretary.
