Ex-Kogi Governor Honoured With Igala Youth Assembly’s Pinnacle Award

A former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris CON, has been conferred with the ‘Pinnacle Award’ by Igala Youth Leadership Assembly (IYLA).

Speaking at the presentation of the award at Chida Hotel, Abuja, Speaker of the youth assembly, Ojochele Felix Akoh said the Former Governor was singled out for the award in recognition of his immense contribution to youth empowerment, national economic growth and development.

Ojochele described the Jakanda of Sokoto as a passionate leader who do not segregate.

While thanking the youths for the honour bestowed on him, the for former Governor admonished them to shun thuggery and other social vices.

Idris recalled that during his tenure as Governor of Kogi State, he did not just empower youths politically and helped them become self reliant through skills acquisition, but encouraged most of them to acquire formal education.

He charged them to be focused on the development of Kogi State.

In his remarks, member representing Lokoja-Kogi federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Barr. Shaba Ibrahim described the former Governor as the architect of modern Kogi State.

He stated that the people of Lokoja-Kogi federal constituency are always behind the former Governor, supporting his programs and activities.

Speaker, a former Caretaker Chairman of Omala local government, Dr. Aminu Atabo, praised Alhaji Ibrahim Idris for his landmark achievements in Kogi state.

Atabo, who was also an award recipient, said if it were possible for the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to be amended for an extended tenure, Kogites would have gladly stood with the former Governor to continue to rule over them. This, he attributed to the developmental strides of the former Governor who touched every part of Kogi State without tribal, religious or class segregation.

“During his tenure, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris operated an open door policy during his tenure and gave his Commissioners and other political appointees free hand to discharge their duties professionally without undue interference,” he said.
