Ex-Kogi Gov. Condemn Destruction of Melaye’s Constituency Projects

Former Acting Governor of Kogi State and Kogi West senatorial Aspirant, Rt Hon. Clarence Olafemi, has condemned the burning down of constituency projects built by Senator Dino Melaye.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Olafemi’s Chief Press Secretary, Hon. David Ehimony, the former governor said it is a sad news to hear.
Olafemi, who frowned at the action of those behind the act to burn and vandalize properties built for public use, described the actions of the perpetrators of this heinous crime as political extremism taken too far and alien to the political culture of Lokoja people.
The aspirant urged the state Governor to go the extra mile in ensuring that the perpetrators of the dastardly and wicked act are fished out and punished accordingly to serve as deterrent to other would-be arsonists.
Obembe, as Olafemi is popularly known, called on the government to as a way of showing seriousness and concern to immediately direct the relevant agencies of government towards ensuring that the damaged structures are quickly repaired so as not to allow the beneficiaries who are the poor students suffer further untold hardship.
Olafemi called on the people to embrace peace and to avoid violence, pointing out that no meaningful development can be attained in an atmosphere of violence and destruction of government properties.
He called on those who are hurt and offended to forgive. He cautioned against the act of destruction of government properties, especially in this period when resources are scarce and hard to come by.
He appreciate the effort Senator Melaye for his love and passion for education and said politics should be  a competitive, complementary and positive rivalry and not willful destruction of private or government owned properties.
He considered this as politics taken too far bearing in mind that their action is not only a disgrace to Kogi State but a disappointment to humanity.
He appealed to Kogi people to be at alert and watch suspicious movements of people.
He cautioned the sponsors of this crime to be ashamed of themselves noting that bringing Kogi State once again to the front burner of Nigeria politics for the wrong reasons is an evil wind that blows no one any good.
He urged them to repent as the wrath of God is awaiting them.
