- Hail Governor Bello’s peace and women inclination
The immediate past Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Kogi State, Prince Sani Ogu Salisu has congratulated the newly elected local government chairmen, vice chairmen and councillors in the state, urging them to represent their people and live above personal interest.
Salisu gave the advice at the aftermath of the council election in Idah on Saturday.
He thanked Gov Yahaya Bello for providing a peaceful atmosphere for a violence free election across the state.
Salisu, who congratulated the elected officials of Idah local government council in particular and the entire state at large, enjoined them to settle down and pay attention to their local government areas against the norm of absconding from their respective LGAs to settle in Lokoja.
“The task ahead of you is a lot of work, I believe you have seen the signs from His Excellency’s deliberate implementation of the United Nation’s thirty percent women affirmative action in governance, in addition to his human cum infrastructure developmental efforts in the state.
“Therefore, I call on you to work in the interest of your people,” he said.
He called on the chairmen to work with the state government to address the difficulties of funding in order to better the lives of the people.
The former Commissioner also called on the Chairmen to pay attention to security, education and primary health care in their areas, stressing that these sectors are key to the socioeconomic development of every society.
