The macabre dance of Dr Wale Fasakin, the removed former president of Unilorin Alumni Association may have come to and end as the management of University of Ilorin has issued a press statement warning the general public from transacting any business with him on behalf of the association as he is no longer an official of the association.

The university management through its Director of Public Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun informed the public that the Management is aware of the August 24, 2024 Congress held in M&M Event Centre, Ilorin that produced the Prof Kilani led exco, after a 3 years reign of a Caretaker Committee set up in June 2021.

While commending the management for this clarification, we appreciate all the heroes and compatriots that Fasakin has vilified for joining in the rescue of the soul of the Alumni Association from Fasakin and his fellow financial vultures and scavangers, we wish to caution Mr Olumuyide and Ipinniwa and those in their gang to always be on the side of truth. It is important to always permit the working of reasoning far and above emotions and some other pecuniary considerations.

The duo, prompted certainly by some inducements, had previously tagged the August 24, 2024 Congress a beer parlour congress. For the proper counselling of their dogma, and for public enlightenment, the said congress was the most widely attended in the history of our union. It was attended by over 2000 members with delegates from 34 states and the FCT. The choice of M&M Event Centre is due to its central location, hence, easy accessibility to congressmen and women. It should be noted that congresses have been previously and severally held in Kwara Hotel and Savanna Hotel, among other venues outside the Unilorin campus. Weren’t it for mischief and deliberate distortion of fact, they should know that the legitimacy of a congress has nothing to do with the venue.

It is therefore hoped that with this clarification made by the university, Fasakin and his cohorts would cease to rape the law and desist from further self embarrassment they have brought upon themselves.

However, his numerous acts of impersonation must be investigated by the appropriate government agencies and the law taking it course.

We shall remain unperturbed in our quests to ensure that Unilorin remains the best in Nigeria, one of the top ten in Africa, and part of the best 500 in the world.

Chief Olorunsuwa Elijah Ola
National Publicity Secretary, Unilorin Alumni Association.
