Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh Foundation Unveils ‘One Kogi Project’, to Empower Vulnerable Women, Youths

Beginning from November this year, the Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh Foundation (BEJF) will commence its empowerment program for vulnerable women and education advancement for youth across Kogi state.

Media Director of the Foundation, Mr Nyam Terkimbi Terry, confirmed this to journalists while unveiling the ‘One Kogi Project’ in Lokoja on Tuesday.

Terry said under the ‘One Kogi Project’, the foundation will organize a novelty football match in Idah on November 27, followed by Echee, to bring back our culture, on November 28.

He said the founder of the Foundation, Mrs Jitoboh, has always been passionate about uplifting the vulnerable in Kogi state and beyond.

According to him, the ‘One Kogi Project’ is targeted at enriching women and youths in economic advancement and educational advancement, peace and conflicts resolutions across the State.

“Chief Hon. Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh has always been passionate and concerned about the well-being of the people, particularly the vulnerable ones. She founded this Non Governmental Organization 17 years ago with the sole aim of mitigating poverty and fight against domestic violence and rape in our society.

“We will be going round the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State to empower market women, majorly widows and youth. We already have the statistical data to work with,” he added.

The unveiling ceremony, which took place at the Barbie Place Supermarket to mark the 7th edition Independence Day Fun Fair in Lokoja, was graced by top Kogi state government functionaries including the Deputy Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Comfort Egwaba and State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones.

Speaking at the ceremony, the founder and CEO of the Foundation, Chief Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh, commended the state government for its unwavering support towards education in the state.

“I was truly honored to have Hon. Wemi Jones, the Commissioner for Education, deliver a heartfelt goodwill speech. His words of appreciation meant the world to me and the entire team.

“His promise to keep his doors open and provide support for anything related to education was incredibly encouraging. Knowing we have his unwavering support as we push forward with our vision strengthens our resolve to make a lasting impact on the educational sector in Kogi State. Thank you, Hon. Wemi Jones, for your belief in our work and for standing with us,” she said.

The Barbara Eleojo Jitoboh Foundation has been in the forefront in the fight against domestic violence, injustice and other social vices in the country as well as empowerment of SMEs.

Hon. Eleojo Barbara Jitoboh, the Convener of ‘One Kogi Project’ is known for her humanitarian work, particularly in Kogi State, Nigeria. Her philanthropism focuses on education, healthcare, empowerment, and community development.

The Foundation provides support for vulnerable groups, including women, children (boy/girl) and the elderly through collaboration with local leaders, organizations, and government agencies to drive positive change.

The Foundation has successfully managed various business ventures, creating jobs and economic opportunities.
