Ahead of the governorship election in Kogi State, elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have been urged to urgently intervene to prevent possible internal wrangling and a repeat of the National Assembly leadership crisis.

The Director of Protocol and Publicity of the Kogi Youth Progressive Association (KYPA) Abdul Sanusi said yesterday in a statement that it is incumbent on partly leaders to wade into the brewing crisis in the party in the interest of cohesion and to prevent election loss to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He however said the group is backing former governor of the state Abubakar Audu to pick the party’s ticket and return as governor.

“We consist of patriotic and experienced politicians and youths from the 21 local governments of the state. Although we are backing Prince Abubakar Audu to become our governor once again, our position was predicated on critical and thoughtful examination of what is missing in the state and what needs to be done to change the state of affairs.”
