Ekuechi Festival: Okene LG Boss Hold Security Meeting With Traditional, Community Leaders

Ahead of Ekuechi festival, the Executive Chairman of Okene local government council, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has called for violence-free celebrations.

The council boss made call at a security meeting with top traditional and community leaders from Okengwe district, on Tuesday, to fashion out modalities of celebrating peaceful Ekuechi festivals.

The Council Chairman emphasized on the need for all to put hands on deck to ensure the security of lives and property are sustained.

He cautioned youths not act under the influence of alcohol, hard drugs and other substances to cause problem during the festivals as security agencies have already been detailed to maintain law and order.

While identifying some flash points within Okengwe district that harbours criminals, the council boss assured the people that government will swing into action immediately if there is breach of peace.

He advised traditional rulers to always maintain decorum and respect constituted authority in all their dealings. 

The Ohi of Okengwe/Okene, district head of Okengwe, traditional rulers and other stakeholders made useful submissions that will ensure peace during and after the Ekuechi festival.
