As Muslim all over the world mark this year’s Eid-El-Kabir celebration, the Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Ahmed Mohammed has urged Muslims in the State and his constituency, Ankpa 1, to dedicate the celebration to pray for unity and peace in the country.
He said “Eid-el-Kabir celebration is an opportunity for us to reflect and pray for God’s guidance and good health, and for all those in leadership positions, so that God in his infinite mercy will continue to guide us as they steer the affairs of the state.
“Eid el-Kabir is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of prophet Ibrahim to obey Allah’s command to sacrifice his son Ishmael, where the Almighty provided him with a ram to slaughter instead of his son.
“The significance of the season should go beyond the festivities towards sincere commitment to righteous conducts in private and public lives”
He called for unity, peace, progress and prosperity of the state, as Islam is identified by unity and religious tolerance as panacea to achieving peace and development.
