The Member representing Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela/Odolu and Ofu at the House of Representatives, Hon. David Idris Zacharias has felicitated with Muslims in his federal constituency on the 2019 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Honorable Zacharias in a message by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Jeremiah Ocheme, congratulated the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-El-Kabir which he said calls for celebration and prayer for the country and Idah Federal constituency in particular.
The statement called on all constituents of Idah federal constituency, at home and in the diaspora, to use the period of this year’s Eid- celebration to embrace the virtues of love, humility, peace and sacrifice as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
Speaking on the Kogi Gubernatorial election scheduled for November 16, Zacharias urged his constituents to be security conscious, before, during and after the sallah celebration and called on security agencies to ensure adequate protection of lives and property, especially in susceptible flashpoints of criminality within the constituency.
“While we prepare for celebration, the tendency for enemies of the constituency to unleash terror cannot be over-ruled. Security agents should up their games and bean their search light on flashpoints of criminality and ensure that the constituents celebrate without fear of intimidation.”
Speaking further on the election, the statement urged clergies as well as religious leaders to foster peace and unity among the people ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The statement challenged religious leaders and particularly, parents to call their members, children and wards to order from engaging in crimes.
The statement also called on Muslims to share whatever resource they have with their fellow brothers and sisters regardless of religion, adding that love and sacrifice remain the ultimate of the great prophet of God and pillars in Islam
“While rejoicing with the Muslim brothers and sisters, on this auspicious occasion of Eid el-Kabir Sallah celebration, which symbolises sacrifice and obedience, we have the obligation of praying for our state and ensure that we pray for the 2019 election to be conducted peacefully.
“On my part as a lawmaker, I will continue to pursue people-oriented legislation and initiate bills and legislative interventions that will guarantee peace and stability in the polity and the constituency in particular, as well as improve the living conditions of our people”.
The statement further reiterated the determination of the lawmaker to present bills and motions that will reflect the yearnings and aspirations of people form Idah federal constituency and appropriately project the constituency to the larger society in a positive form.
