GOODWILL MESSAGE FROM HIS EXCELLENCY, PRINCE ABUBAKAR AUDU TO THE PEOPLE OF KOGI STATE ON THE OCCASION OF THE 2015 EID-EL-KABIR CELEBRATION
Dear Kogites,
I wish to extend my very warm greetings to the people of Kogi State, particularly the Muslim faithfuls at this festive period of Eid-el-Kabir, as we join other Muslims around the world to mark a momentous deed of Islamic religious worship. I congratulate all Muslim brothers and sisters on this occasion, as we also profusely thank the almighty Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala for keeping us alive to witness this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
As Muslim faithfuls, we are very much cognizant of the fact that the relevance of the Eid-el-Kabir festival is for us to engage in a religious act of devotion meant to inculcate in us the Islamic virtues of obedience, piety, faith in the will of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, sacrifice, uprightness and candour.
As we celebrate today, I beseech you all to ingest the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir, which promotes the spirit of charity, piety, emancipation, the promotion of religious harmony, amicability, impartial leadership and true justice for all. Let us not relent in our efforts to showing genuine love and respect for one another.
The privileged ones amongst us should be kind, generous and considerate of the socially and economically disadvantaged ones amongst us, so that Allah may continue to show kindness and compassion unto us as a people, and the society in which we live as prescribed by Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam).
Finally, I felicitate all Muslim Ummah of Kogi extraction who have successfully undertaken this year’s Hajj as enjoined by the Holy Prophet Muhammed (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam). As they round off the observance of the Hajj and prepare to return home, let us join them in offering unique prayers for peace, unity, security, and progress in our dear State, and for an orderly, nonbelligerent, and successful conduct of the November gubernatorial election.
As the campaign season begins, I beseech all political leaders in the State to place the fundamental interest of the well-being and progress of our dear homeland above all considerations all through the campaigns and the election. I entreat all political chieftains to place greater interests of unity, cohesion, political stability, peace, progress and harmony in Kogi State above personal ambition and divisive sectional agenda.
May Allah’s blessings rest upon you all, and wishing all Kogites currently on pilgrimage in the Holy Land a safe journey back home.
On behalf of my family and loved ones, I wish the entire Muslim Ummah in Kogi State a blissful, peaceful, joyous and stupendous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
His Excellency,
Prince Abubakar Audu
24th September, 2015.
