In a statement personally signed by Senator Jibrin Isah, the senator representing Kogi East has appealed not only to the Muslim community but the entire Kogi East to eschew violence and embrace love, peaceful doctrine of Islam as preached by Prophet Muhammed (SAW).
“This is a unique period for sober reflection, self examination, to ventilate our faith and tolerance for the greater unity of our land as exemplified by prophet Abraham (AS) when he offered his son for sacrifice to God and the eventual replacement of his son with an animal which signifies the killing of ram by the Muslim during the eid-el Kabir. We must implore on Allah to restore those values that place high premium on life and imbibe the spirit of giving to the less opportune by the privileged, through which the supremacy of God and his teaching will be acknowledged.
“The significance of this occasion should be beyond the aura of the season but towards a sincere commitment, faithful conducts in our private and public lives.
“I wish to felicitate with the executive governor of Kogi State, his Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, and his chief of staff Chief Edward Onoja for their steadfastness and zeal to reposition the state amidst myriads of challenges, and Comrade Ahmed Attah, the kogi-east zonal chairman of our great party (APC) and all the executive members of our party.
“I want to use this medium to reiterate my resolve and commitment of providing qualitative and responsive representation to the people of Kogi East and congratulate Muslims on pilgrimage to holy land and urge them to use the opportunity to pray for Nigeria and Kogi State in particular, conduct yourselves according to the culture and tradition of the host nation. May Allah Allah fulfill your entreaties and accept the Hajj as an act of Ibadah.”
