The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Lokoja Local Government has sent its heartfelt congratulatory message to the entire Muslims of the state, especially those in Lokoja LGA on the occasion of celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Adha.
A Press Statement signed by the council’s Director of Media and Publicity, Yabagi Mohammed, quoted the President, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, as enjoining Muslims to remember the nation in prayers at this trying period of the citizens’ national life.
Comrade Abdullahi, who called on celebrants to see the occasion as period for deep reflections rather than an opportunity to overfeed, said the lessons of the occasion, which is sacrifice and self-deniability would be lost if food and drink consumption are made mirror of the occasion.
He further called on believers to remember the nation’s leaders in their prayers, saying the current economic and political tests that Nigeria is going through requires divine intervention as well as conscious hardwork and determination of the citizens.
According to the statement, there is need for the people to go back to the basics by enthroning those virtues that define the Nigerian spirit such as brotherhood, love and compassion for each other, even in the face of lack.
“The occasion is not a period for flaunting riches. It is rather a period of soul-searching and retracing of our steps as people. It is period of sacrifice as exemplified by the sacrifice of Rams that we make at the end of the Eid prayers,” Comrade Abdullahi said
He further used the occasion to charge leaders at all levels to take critical look at the prevailing socio-economic difficulties being faced by the people and come up with policies and programmes that would ameliorate their plight.
The youth leader called praised the patience and courage being demonstrated by the people of Lokoja Local Government, even in the face of trials and tribulations, and enjoined them to continue to keep the faith as he enjoined youths in Lokoja to continue to keep the peace in the society.
Comrade Abdullahi specifically on the Kogi State Government to wrap up its screening exercise as soon as possible, to ensure that genuine workers get their salaries when due, saying that the present hardship was becoming unbearable for the common man.
The NYCN President, who also double as the President of Presidents in the state, therefore congratulated the governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and members of his cabinet on the occasion of the Eid-el-Adha Celebration.
While describing the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Umar Ahmed Imam as a pride of the Local Government Area, he also sent his greetings to his and the entire legislative arm of the state.
He also sent his heartfelt congratulations to the administrator for Lokoja Local Government, Hon Lawal Shiru and his administrative, and prayed God to continue to grant them good health in piloting the affairs of the area.
