Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on all its affiliates to get their members ready for tomorrow’s protest as directed by the national body.

State Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Gabriel Amari, stated this after the State Executive Council of the union in Lokoja on Monday.

Comrade Amari said except otherwise directed, the State Council will comply fully with the peaceful protest across Kogi state in the face of the pains, agony and challenges Nigerians are going through as a result of the Federal Government policies especially that of fuel subsidy removal without commensurate palliatives put in place to cushion the effects.

He urged all members to come out as directed to participate in the peaceful engagement slated for Tuesday and Wednesday this week as adequate security arrangements have been made to protect all within the stipulated period.

”We are operating within the stipulated laws of the Union and not in violation of our constitutional fundamental rights to peaceful protest in the face of economic hardship,” he stressed.

Comrade Amari, while commending the Kogi State Government on the distribution of rice palliative to workers, equally called for implementation of payment of wage award to civil servants across the state and local government workforce as a matter of urgency.

The NLC chairman assured of the Union’s commitment to the welfare of workers as it will engage the new administration in the state meaningfully to make life better for civil servants as well as move the State forward.
