The winner of the Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries held in January, Alhaji Jubrin Isah Echocho, has reportedly dumped his running mate, Hon. Clarence Olafemi Obemebe, and has opened talks with high profile politicians in Kogi State on a likely replacement.
It will be recalled that Olafemi recently endorsed the candidature of Idris Wada as PDP standard-bearer in the coming Kogi State governorship election.
This open display of political whoredom did not go down well with the Echocho group. The Echocho think-tank is presently lobbying other aggrieved members of PDP with a bid to get one them to nominate Obembe’s replacement.
Investigations by KogiReports shows that apart from Senator Smart Adeyemi, some other high profile Abuja-based Okun leaders are working round the clock to ensure Echocho emerge as authentic PDP flagbearer.
At the moment, the Echocho group have settled for a sound technocrat from Ijumu axis as potent replacement for Obembe. This technocrat was a respected figure in the Presidency in recent years. Though, he was never a minister or ambassador, this gentle, urbane technocrat enjoys support from within and outside Okunland.
An Abuja High Court sitting in Maitama will tomorrow deliver the much awaited judgement that will decide whom between Wada and Echocho is the rightful candidate of the PDP for the December 3rd governorship elections in Kogi State.
