A non-government organisation in Kogi State, Ebira Peoples Vanguard (EPV), has commended elected chairmen from Kogi Central Senatorial District of the state for embarking on massive infrastructure development of the area.
The president of the organisation, Alhaji Abdulrahman Adoke, told newsmen in Lokoja that the decision of the chairmen to rehabilitate the moribund Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Okene was commendable.
He informed that the five chairmen from the area hade demonstrated love for their community, calling on all other political office holders from the area to emulate them.
According to Adoke, “if the station is working, it would help to bring information about government activities and other happenings in the society closer to the people.”
He said the only panacea for peace and development was good leadership, which he said, the chairmen had exhibited, adding that “the only way to guarantee peace and development is through quality leadership. The present chairmen have exhibited good leadership quality. I call on our people to continue to support their vision and mission.”
He stressed the need for the people to continue to work in harmony, noting that the area could not attain its zenith politically without unity and cohesion.
The president said development had eluded the people for too long due to in-fighting and unnecessary sentiments, saying it was time for them to close rank.
