The people of Idah Local Government Area have been called upon to pull their resources together in bid to chart a way forward for the comprehensive development of Idah.
The chairman of the council, Dr. Musa Major Abutalib made the call while presenting his account of stewardship at the launching of Idah Development Trust Fund (IDTF) at the Civic centre, Attahโs palace Idah.
He said the launching of Idah development trust fund is to map out strategies to tackle challenges of the local government area.
Some of these problems, according to the chairman, are as a result of insufficient fund, over bloated staff strength and lack of infrastructural development, coupled with very low capacity to generate revenue in the local government area.
Dr. Musa who enumerated his achievements in the council so far, said his administration is able to construct the blocks of modern toilet at Idah Corpers Lodge and Idah Police station, renovation and provision of basic items at NYSC Zonal Inspectorate office and establishment of Bee faming facilities at Ugbetulu and many others in the council area.
He appealed to public spirited individuals to support and emulate the good work of the sons and daughters especially Barr. Matthew Opaluwa who he said provided State-of art surgery theatre at Idah Zonal Hospital, Alhaji Kabiru Aku who is constructing road at Igalogba and Dr. Samson Opaluwa who provided dental equipment at the zonal hospital Idah.
The chairman commended Capt. Idris Wada and his wife for the unalloyed support for his administration, noting that the Governor and his wife have been critical factors in development of the town especially in the area of beautification.
The council chairman also lauded the effort HRM, Idakwo Michael Ameh Oboni II for his fatherly roles in assisting the council since the inception of his administration.
In his own welcome address, the chairman of the fund, Sir J.F Aduku thanked the people for honouring the clarion call and urged them to contribute immensely towards raising money for the development of the ancient city lamented the set back in the effort to develop Idah, the headquarters of Igalaland and appealed for generous contribution towards raising fund for the development of the ancient city.
