Dr Arome Salifu Bags RATTAWU’s 2023 Beacon of Hope Humanitarian Award, Seeks Attention for Media, Arts, Culture

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of a leading non-governmental organization in Nigeria, Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF), Dr Arome Salifu has been conferred with the 2023 Beacon of Hope and Humanitarian Award by the Radio, Theatre, Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) in Kogi State.

The award was conferred on Dr Arome Salifu on Saturday at the grand finale of the RATTAWU week of creativity organized by Kogi State chapter of the union, held at the NUT conference hall in Lokoja.

Speaking at the event, Doctor Arome Salifu, who was represented by a Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs at the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Comrade Samuel Atuluku, said it was necessary for governments to invest more in the media, arts and culture.

According to Dr Arome, giving more attention to the sector would guarantee cultural preservation as well as increase creativity, explaining that culture and media play significant roles in the society.

He described the theme of the RATTAWU week as apt, urging the body to do more through appropriate collaboration with relevant bodies.

Dr Arome expressed appreciation to RATTAWU for recognizing his modest contributions to the growth of the society, adding that the award would spur him to do more for the overall benefit of the society.

Earlier, the Kogi State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Haruna Isah said the recognition of Doctor Arome Salifu for the award was in consideration of his role in advancing the society.

Comrade Haruna urged other well to do individuals to emulate such sterling example, noting that the society would be a better place for all when there is consideration for the less privileged.

The theme of the RATTAWU Week is “Media, Arts and Culture as panacea for good governance and development”.
