The House of Assembly member representing Ofu constituency, Dr Friday Alih has described the extension of Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee by the delegates as the best thing that has happened to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in recent times.
Dr Alih made this statement while addressing the press men at the venue of the PDP National convention in port Harcourt.
Dr Ali noted that, as Law abiding party ,the period of extension Will give the Party enough time to resolve all surrounding issues for a better take off in 2019.
It may be recalled that, the extension of the tenure of the Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the PDP also came on the heels of the suspension of the election of national officers of the party.
Motion for the extension of Makarfi’s Caretaker Committee’s tenure was moved by the Deputy Senate President, Mr. Ike Ekweremadu.
A member of the party and the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr. Leo Ogor, had earlier moved a motion for the suspension of the election of national officers of the party.
The motion was, however, seconded by Yunusa Suleiman, who is the Chairman of the 36 State Chairmen of the PDP across the country.
Dr Alih noted that, the extension of Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the PDP would pave the way for the party to exhaust all cases pending in court.
