It was Abdulmalik Jafaar of The Northern Explorer Newspaper who first suggested that beneath the innocent softness of Ahmadu Ali’s smile and the sternness of His still voice lies a heart with a penchant for deceit, betrayal and outright sell out.
Closely following Abdulmalik Jafaar came Adegbe Ismaila of the Kogi Compass who stated clearly that for Ahmadu Ali, it is never too early or late to jeopardize any cause by selling out.
Standing on the tripods of deceit, grandstanding and betrayal, Ahmadu Ali cannot be of value whatsoever to the PDP or any political party desirous of winning elections anywhere on earth.
A big question which comes to the mind at this juncture is thus – can the PDP in Kogi state and by extension the presidential campaign council of the party and the Abubakar Atiku campaign organization do without Ahmadu Ali?
The answer is a strong yes!
It may now suffice for some light to be thrown into the recent nefarious conducts of a man who eats with all while dining with none.
Shortly after the National Headquarter of the PDP extensively discussed, consulted and resolved that the doctrine of awarding automatic tickets to certain political office holders be invoked to insulate the party from the defections and counter defections which once rocked the national assembly, it was Sen. Ahmadu Ali who mobilized resources in Kogi State and developed a penetration strategy for the ADC to stand in the state.
Beyond this, Sen. Ahmadu Ali publicly reached out to prominent members of the PDP and advised them on the need to defect from the party to the ADC where He would facilitate their emergence as candidates to compete against the PDP. For a man who pretends to abhor automatic ticket to dangle this option at politicians reveals in clear terms the values which drive him as an individual.
The Rt. Hon. Clarence Olafemi amongst others were to be beneficiaries of the “magnanimity” of Sen. Ahmadu Ali.
Rewinding to 2015, members of the PDP in Kogi State who played key roles recall clearly how incidences of pilfering of campaign resources – vehicles, cash and other valuables rocked Kogi State and massively degraded the chances of the PDP putting up a stronger win in the state.
The intention of this article is not to suggest that Sen. Ahmadu Ali may have misappropriated, diverted or misapplied campaign funds. It is also not to discuss if a chunk of campaign funds earmarked for Kogi State was forgotten in the Abuja residence of Sen. Ahmadu Ali. It is simply to rationalize why Sen. Ahmadu Ali – the man in the centre of the storm was conspicuously missing in action at His own polling unit and booth on the day of the election proper.
He neither voted for the PDP nor mobilized for the party in the grass root and ward level.
Lately, Sen. Ahmadu Ali has been on the prowl. Of course, He is retired but not tired and this time around, the target is the headship of the PDP presidential campaign council in Kogi State.
While sources close to Him say it is going to be a do or die affair, it is important for it to be stated here in clear terms that only people who volunteer themselves to die for a cause they know nothing about may die.
As for the majority of the good people of Kogi State, we will be alive to see the confinement to political obscurity individuals who have held our people under a gluttonous grip.
In the last 21 days, Aso Rock and the office of the Chief of Staff, State House, Abba Kyari hosted an august visitor. Accompanied by His wife who is a major stakeholder of the ruling APC in the South South, Sen. Ahmadu Ali received a presidential handshake after deliberation in the cause of which He conveyed to President Muhammadu Buhari a commitment to His re-election in 2019.
The visitors log book at the villa clearly attests to this. What is the game plan?
Don’t defect. Undermine the PDP in Kogi State from within. Stop Atiku Abubakar at all cost.
Already, the master plan has been hatched and the clock is ticking.
Whereas many observers doubted possibilities that sell out and betrayal – the core attributes of the “elder statesman” are in the offing, the simple reality that Sen. Ahmadu Ali has moved to create a parallel presidential campaign structure for the PDP in Kogi State has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the decision of Sen. Ali to involve in the campaigns “for” Atiku has more to it than meet the eye.
Senator Ahmadu Ali who was absent in Kogi State on the day the party filed out to vote in 2015.
Senator Ahmadu Ali undermined the PDP in Kogi State advising aspirants to join the ADC.
Senator Ahmadu Ali provided a template to advance grass root penetration of the ADC in Kogi State.
Senator Ahmadu Ali is promoting a parallel structure of the PDP in Kogi State.
Can this same individual be trusted not to “disappear” once again on the day of voting come 2019 after muddling up the mobilization process as means of weakening it?
