Disturbed by the recent suspension of the chairman of Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Comrade Muhammed Ali, over alleged misconduct, the Labour Party has warned that stakeholders should not heat up the polity.
The party scribe in the state, Honourable Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo, stated that the party was against the suspension, adding that the focus at present should be “how to assist the masses, elected officials and compliments the governor’s efforts in its transformation agenda.”
“That is our expectation instead of dissipating energies on frivolous issues which can deny people the much needed dividends of democracy,” he said.
Itodo told newsmen in Lokoja that the suspension should not have come before investigation, calling on the panel members investigating the allegation to speed up their investigation and made public their findings.
The Labour Party scribe insisted that the party believed in politics of issues and good governance instead of what he described as campaign of calumny, explaining “this negates the principle of democracy. We should play the game with morals for the good of everybody.”
