“Displaced Persons in Kogi State Still Receive Relief Materials” – Awoniyi

With the flood receding and submerged homes and farmlands becoming visible again, displaced persons in Kogi State, have continued to receive relief materials.

Two months of unprecedented flood forced several indigenes of the State in nine Local Government Areas to flee their homes and into displaced camps in mostly Primary Schools.
Public spirited individuals and organization have since the flood rendered assistance to the victims through the State Government.

Some of such recent donation,yesterday came from Kogi State foundation, led by Dantsho Wada, the Executive Secretary, the Miners Association, led by Audu Yunusa and forum of Lokoja Patriots led by Alhaji Baba Ango.

Receiving the donations on behalf of the State Governor, Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, said the flood disaster has shown that the people of Kogi State irrespective of tribe and religion can be their brother’s keeper, thanked the donors, assuring that the materials will be put into judicious use.

Arc. Awoniyi, said the donation is coming at a time when the State Government is moving displaced victims into well established camps, said those affected by the flood will be rehabilitated, resettled and assisted by government after the Technical Committees established by the State Government has completed its assignment.

Awoniyi, called on the people to join hands with the present administration in moving the State forward, commended the prompt and adequate attention Capt. Idris Wada, showed to the plight of those affected.

In their separate speeches, Dantsho Wada, commended the State Government for bringing succor to those affected.
Audu Yunusa, said their donation is to aid in the resettlement programme of the State Government while Alhaji Idris Baba Ango, said the task of mitigating the sufferings of those affected was too huge for government alone to bear, called on other well meaning citizens to assist those affected in their little ways.
