Voice of Mopamuro Youths (VOMY) has decried the continued failure of political leaders to meet the yearnings of Nigeria.

While congratulating Nigerians on the celebration of another democracy day, members of VOMY called for improved representation from elected and appointed government officials from Mopamuro local government of Kogi state.

They stated that just like the presidential mandate was denied Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola in 1993, politicians across the nation have failed and still failing the Nigeria masses.

A member of the group, Adeola Micheal, said “obviously, Mopamuro has been privileged to occupy reasonable positions in the affairs of Nigeria democracy from 1999 till date, but as it is now, the Local Government is still one of the communities left behind in terms of development.

“I want to urge and encourage our leaders to help us lobby where necessary so as for us to enjoy our own dividends of democracy.”

Adding her voice, Eyiwumi Atte said; “our leaders have been failing us too much. We urge them to stick to their promises and integrity and do the needful for the masses not minding if they belong to their political parties or not. The government is for all the people! Lastly, I pray for them, more auction and divine leading. Amen.”

Samuel Gabriel Eniola, Oluwaseun Ajetumobi, Kolade Boluwatife Samuel and Timothy Afolabi, while adding their voices, asked the youths to wake up to their responsibility, reduce the dependence on government and to be diligent in their respective endeavors, embrace unity of purpose towards personal and community development, adding that their destinies is in their hands.

The leader of the group, Julius Olushola Abel said the democratic dividends will be better delivered to the community if sound and capable youths are allowed to meaningfully participate in politics and decision making.
