House of Assembly aspirant, Matthew James Avabee has called on Nigerian youths to aspire for political leadership.
Matthew, popularly known as Mr Spreading, gave the charge in a message to commemorate the 2018 Democracy Day.
He extolled the legacies of Nigerian leaders who fought for the nation’s democracy and liberation from the military rule, charging young Nigerians to emulate them by contributing their own quota towards nation building, He reminded them that many of the country past leaders who fought for our freedom many years ago where youths when they felt there is a need to rewrite the history of the nation.
“We must be brave and determined to salvage our country and return her to her glorious seat in the comity of Nations.
“We need to work hard and change our orientation by fighting corruption that have become a hydra headed monster in our country.
“We should be ready to take back our nation for generations yet unborn to appreciate.
“We are thankful to all who laid down their lives for us to be where we are today, this is enough reason why we need to be grateful for being alive at this critical period to protect and build on the legacies they left behind.
“Today, I reaffirm my faith that Nigeria will remain stronger and better no matter the wind of both internal and external crises tormenting us a people.
“We must resolve to fight the terrorism where unscrupulous elements among us are constantly killing our brothers and sisters at schools, worship centers, farms, hospitals. May all who have lost their lives rest in peace.
“Let me also use this medium to sympathize with the people of Ihima, in my constituency, who lost their properties to rain storm few days ago and again to draw the government’s attention to their plight at this critical period by providing them with aids.
“We will remain as one and stand tall against all odds. That is my mindset, faith and prayers,” he said.
Mr Spreading, who is the National Coordinator of Nigeria Christians Youth Political Platform, is an aspirant to Kogi State House of Assembly to represent the good people of Okehi constituency.
