It was a massive gathering of eminent Sons and daughter of Dekina/Bassa federal constituency as Hon. Idris Gowon popularly known as IJN declares his interest to contest the highly competitive house of representative race to represent his people at the green chamber of the national assembly.
In what many described as an answer to a long clarion call on him to continue to represent his people at a higher level haven’t represented them well at Kogi state house of assembly, the people turn out massively to receive their son and promised to do all they can to ensure the realization of his ambition come 2015.
Royal blessing for Hon Haruna Paul Gowon IJN
At Ayingba, the youths, woman, students, Okada riders and community leaders all trooped out massively to receive their son whom they described as their worthy ambassador. The campaign coordinator of IJN 2015, Mr. Onu Abdullahi, appreciated the people for their support and assures them that IGN is the only man that can represent their interest at all time as he has demonstrated in the past. The campaign team proceeded to Dekina amidst cheers where they were received by the Ejeh of Dekina HRH Usman Obaje and his entire council members for his royal blessing and support. The royal father blessed him and described him as a man of integrity who has fulfilled all his electoral promises to the people. He promised to support him totally in his quest to represent his people at the national assembly.
At the old Dekina Hotel, the venue of the declaration proper, it was a herculean task for the security agents as they battle to control the massive crowd of people, who came to show support and solidarity for a man they claim has done much for them as a people. The man of the moment Hon. Idris Gowon thanked the people for their show of love and support, he promised to continue the good job he has started at the kogi state house of assembly by given back his salary to take care of the needs of his constituents and personally financed projects that will be beneficial to his people.
The team proceeded to Bassa local secretariat shortly after the declaration at Dekina where they were received by Bassa local government PDP leaders and Stakeholder led by the local government chairman Hon. Maigida Umar and his entire cabinet members. They promised their unflinching support for the aspiration of Hon. Gowon Idris to represent them at the house of representative. While addressing the Bassa leaders, Hon. Gowon promised to protect the interest of the bassa people at the national level and repeat his usual practice of returning his salary to his constituents. He urged them to support him as he will always be there for them.
The declaration was well attended by dignitaries from the Dekina and Bassa local government which make up the federal constituency. Some of the notable attendee includes members of PDP National Working Committee, Kogi State House of Assembly members, PDP state youth leader, Dekina/Bassa PDP local government officials, former commissioners, former and serving special advisers to the governor, Royal fathers and host of other dignitaries.
