Dekina Emerges 2015 Kogi Governor’s Cup Winners

Dekina local government team have emerged winners of the 2015 Kogi State Governor’s Cup after defeating their Omala counterparts 1-0 at the Kogi Confluence Stadium on Sunday.

Jude Ados’ solitary effort in the first half helped the Dekina side edged past their Omala opponents to emerge the best LGA among 21 in the state.
For Omala’s coach Clement Usman who watched his side lose to Eastern rivals blamed their defeat to fatigue and wasted scoring opportunities, but reserved praises for the eventual winners’ resilience and great show of character.
While Dekina’s winning captain, Anoja Emmanuel credited their victory to determination, stressing that were not scared of their previous impressive performance in the competition.
However, Kogi local government team  clinched their third place bronze while Abdulahi Danladi was named their highest goal scorer after he netted six goals in the competition.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olugbemiro Jegede presented the champions Dekina a cash award of N150,000 and a giant trophy, runners-up bagged a N100,000, while third place winners Kogi received N60,000.
