Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency are blessed with personalities of higher integrity with estimable value to the resentfulness of other constituency, unfortunately we outrightly under value ours. Election time is here already and high profile personalities have started indicating an interest for various political positions, though the scope of this analysis is that of the lower chamber of National Assembly (Green Chamber). In this work i tried to be objective to some extent inline with peoples response. We shall discuss all personalities/aspirants that has indicated an interest to aspire for the job and others perceived minds. Am very optimistic that many more aspirants might still emerge as the event is still unfolding.
Among the people that may likely to contest for the Green Chamber come 2019 God willing include:
1. Hon Benjamin Ikani Okolo – Dekina Local Government
2. Hon Daniel Oné Ejigbo – Dekina Local Government
3. Hon Tim Nda Diche – Bassa Local Government
4. Hon Adejoh Akowe – Dekina Local Government
5. Hon Hassan Baiwa Abdullahi – Dekina Local Government
6. Hon Enema Paul – Dekina Local Government
7. Mr Charles Umoru – Dekina Local Government
8. Com. Johnson Musa – Dekina Local Government
9. Hon Gowon Ijn – Dekina Local Government
10. Mr Austin Okai Usman -Dekina Local Government
11. Hon Simon Atadoga – Dekina Local Government
12. Hon Ruben Idakwoji – Dekina Local Government
HON BENJAMIN IKANI OKOLO
Hon Okolo known as BIO was elected Chairman Dekina Local Government Council of the state and during his tenure as chairman he was overwhelmed and also rated higher among his contemporaries. That singular opportunity open the door of popularity for him which in turn gave him an edge over other aspirant for the National House of Representative. He is currently holding the mandate of the people of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly. Most of his supporters initially tipped him for Governorship of the state comes 2019 but when the coast seems not clear enough he ought for continuity at the National Assembly. Though he is not a push over but his major challenges might likely to be the primary election if he chooses to contest on either of the party, his relationship with the New Direction Government is not flexible from various reaction and this was emanated from the presumption of his ambition for the number position of the state. In politics permanent interest matters let see how the intending political alignment is unfolding before 2019.
HON ONE EJIGBO
Hon Ejigbo is another vibrant aspirant for the House of Representative. He hail from Abocho, Dekina/Biraidu Constituency. Though the name seems not popular among the people at the grass root but he was the consensus candidate of APC House of Representative for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency until when Hon Benjamin Ikani Okolo became member of the party and some prominent/elders of the party decided to short change him at the long run, after he was persuaded, he gave peace a chance for the sake of the party and the Constituency. Mr Ejigbo has been working with National Assembly since 2005, currently he is a Senior Legislative Aid to Senator from Nassara State. An Automobile Maintenance consultant in Abuja he believe his wealth of experience at the National Assembke can make the difference if giving the flag under APC.
HON NDA TIM DICHE
Hon Diche is one of the popular aspirant among most contestants for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency. He has been aspiring for this position severally to no avail. It was based on his popularity that he was made Commissioner during the early stage of the new direction government in the state but for his personal conviction he resigned his appointment few months later. Tim Diche is an Abuja based business consultant and his foundation (Tim Diche Foundation) has contributed to the growth and development of Bassa Local Government area. Based on his antecedents he can make things happen positively if giving the chance under APC.
HON ADEJOH AKOWE
Hon Akowe popular known as Olo was Local Government Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. During his tenure though the allocation for Local Government Areas was not as much as what we are getting lately but then he was able to empowered reasonable numbers of youth as staff of the Council and this singular efforts is still fresh in the mind of beneficiaries. Aside that he is politically strong and among the determinant factor of political direction as far as Biraidu is concern. He recently escaped assassination on his way to his home town, if he can be consider under PDP that he is clamouring, he will give a good fight.
HON HASSAN ABDULLAHI
Hon Hassan Abdullahi aka HB is currently the Deputy Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly and he is representing Okura Constituency. Hon Abdullahi was deprived from PDP primary election despite his popularity among the grass root. He in turn joined APC and he was given the ticket of the State House of Assembly few weeks to the General Election, his people stood by him and made it to the Assembly with landslide victory against his closed rival. But unfortunate for him the expectations of people of his constituency on him is how high and the New Direction Government value for the Legislative Arms of Government is not impressive couple with his initial fall out with the government. Now that realignment and alignment have started with the New Direction Government let see how the next phase will unfold. In a couple of week from now he shall be giving his stewardship to his people though his popularity is gradually diminishing most especially at the grass root. The election is around the corner, let keep our fingers cross.
HON ENEMA PAUL
Hon Enema Paul popular as Ene P was arguably pronounce as The New Direction Government Man of the year by social media bloggers. He is the Commissioner for Rural Development and he is always accessible with sense of maturity and humane simplicity with the youth at the grass root level. Personally he never accepted of having political ambition but his development stride and political awareness is growing to an intimating level everyday. Since politicians are not people to be trusted it is suspected he has his focus on Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency and he is among the determinant cabal of the New Direction Government. He can actually give anybody a good fight if he is given the opportunity under APC.
MR CHARLES UMORU
Mr Charles Umoru popularly known as Youth Ambassador is one of the young man that showcase his interest for the Green Chambers of National Assembly. Mr Charles is one handsome man with flamboyant designers cum humanitarian ideology. Story abound on his assistance for the youth and less privileges. His credentials and popularity was intimidating when his operational based was outside the state. Since he became a Special Assistant to the New Direction Government his popularity is actually dwindling but where as actually cherish him some much. His wealth of political and market experience speaks volumes hence he is good to go anytime.
COMRADE JOHNSON MUSA
Comrade Johnson is a grass root mobiliser and a PDP frontier come rain sunshine, his leadership qualities was exposed during his student union days. He deed his National Youth Service with National Assembly and he was opportuned to work closely with National Assembly members and some committees Chairmen. Comrade Johnson has his political tentacles among the home based politicians and beyond, a critics of New Direction Government that warranted his arrest. His National Assembly experience and connection may enhance development to Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency if considered for the job.
HON GOWON HARUNA IJN
Hon Gowon is the Managing Director Idrinana Group of company and popular known as IJN. He was a member of Fifth State House of Assembly. He contested for Dekina/Bassa Federal House of Representative under PDP and narrowly lost out to Hon Benjamin Ikani of APC. IJN is so popular for his flamboyant charitable life, though he can be a candidate to beat if given the mandate under PDP.
AUSTIN OKAI AUSTIN
Mr Okai is a political analyst and social critics, he is a front burner and ardent critics of New Direction Government of the state. He was not only intimidated but arrested on that basis. Mr Okai is so popular not only at the Eastern Senatorial district but the entire state. He is the leader of PDP Youth Frontier, the movement that brings him closer to the top prominent elders of the party across board. Mr Okai is still studying the political atmosphere of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency before his declaration of his ambition under PDP.
HON SIMON ATADOGA
Hon Atadoga was member of the third Assembly of the State, he represented Dekina/Biraidu State Constituency . During his time vibrancy and qualitative representation was second to known. His eloquent submission and sense of maturity with Legislative experience might be an added advantage. Though he is not among the money bag and politics of our time is monitary oriented in nature, I wish him best of luck.
HON REUBEN IDAKWOJI
Hon Idakwoji was one time member of State House of Assembly from Dekina/Beraidu State Constituency. He is an intelligent young man that has contributed in his own way to the development of his Constituency. Hon Idakwoji is also popular in his Constituency for the job.
Above mentioned personalities are few that we presumed of having interest for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency job.
On my personal opinion, though political interest has made nonsense of zoning formula and gentle man agreement else Bassa Local government should have been giving this singular opportunity come 2019. Reason be it that after Hon Isaac Jimba two terms of eight years in office from Bassa Local Government, Hon Positive Ihiabe from Dekina Local Government spent Four years of single tenure, followed by Hon. Tom Ogijo Zakari of four years before Hon Benjamin Ikani Okolo ongoing tenure tenure.
As 2019 is nearby let us double check our PVC and make sure its intact and for those that have not gotten it yet, should try and do that in earnest. Those that want to transfer their voting center should kindly do that immediately.
