Kogi Central Senator, Senator Yakubu Oseni has called on the management of South African telecommunication service provider, Mobile Telephone Network (MTN) to deepen its services to Nigeria through various Corporate Social Responsibilities.
The lawmaker who was the Special Guest of the occasion made the call yesterday in Abuja while giving a brief remarks at the MTN Regional Nominators’ Event held at Sheraton Hotel Abuja.
Senator Oseni who appreciated the telecommunication giant for its positive impacts in Nigeria economy since inception said it should do more in the area of youth employment in all cadres of the company.
“A careful assessment of social responsibility and sustainability literatures point to one conclusive reality that beyond profit maximization, the success or survival of corporate organizations depend on their involvement in actions meant to improve the welfare of their host communities.
“That path of welfarism that MTN has embraced since 2015 is a noble one but like Oliver Twist, Nigerians want more of such benefits”, he said.
As chairman of Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/ Cybercrime, management of the MTN found in Senator Yakubu Oseni a valuable partner in the development of ICT to effectively combat cyber-related crimes in the country.
