David Zacharias Powers More Communities With Streetlights in Idah Fed. Constituency

The lawmaker representing Idah Federal Constituency of Kogi State at the House of Representatives, Hon David Idris Zacharias, as again powered some communities with the installation of solar streetlights at strategic locations in Ofu and Igalamela/Odolu local governments areas of the state.

This is in continuation of his constituency projects as part of fulfilling his campaign promises to the people.

Senior Legislative Aide to Zacharias, Rilwan Momoh, who took an inspection tour of the facility in parts of the constituency, said the lawmaker is so passionate about the development of his constituency, and has made it a habit that specific social and infrastructural interventions will be executed at least every month.

The installation of the 89 units of 60 watts solar powered streetlights was to improve security, enhance economic activities and add beauty to the constituency, which like other part of Nigeria, suffer from epileptic power supply by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company. 

When contacted on why he choose to carry out the streetlights project, Zacharias said power is central to economic development and he was motivated to provide the solar alternative since it will naturally harvest solar power to run the bulbs.

According to the lawmaker, “I will continue to do everything to ensure that I fulfil my campaign promises to the people.

“During the 2019 general elections campaigns, I made some promises, my people. I am glad and grateful to God that He has given me the grace to continue to fulfill my campaign promises one after the other. This installation of street lights and the previous ones at Idah in our constituency is part of my modest contributions to the continued development of our area

“It may be limited in what you would want to use it for, but I am sure it will improve security, enhance economic activities, restore healthy night life and beautify the place,” he said. 

Speaking further, the lawmaker said the era of project diversion has gone, noting that every intervention due to the people will get to them and that he was bent on leaving an indelible mark of development at the end of his terms in office. 

While the official handing over to community is being waited for, Zacharias said residents can begin to use the light, but urged the people to see the projects as theirs and protect them from vandalism of any kind.

Recall that Hon. Zacharias had installed streetlight at the Palace of the Achadu of Attah Igala Palace, provided school fees and external examination enrolment fees for students, drilled boreholes in several communities of the consistency, as well as recently gave soft loans to market women to serve as buffers for their petty businesses.

Parts of communities which benefited from the gesture include: Alla town, Oko- Okenyi, Ojuwo-Omachi, Alloma Road, Ejule new market link all in Ofu local government area. 

Other communities are Ajaka town, Odolu and Oforachi, all in Igalamela/Odolu LGA
