As Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, marked its fourth anniversary, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdulrahman Salawu lauded the institution’s rapid development and took the opportunity to praise the recent training workshop on procurement.

The workshop, organized by the Kogi State Government through the State Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), aimed to promote financial prudence among Chief Executives and Permanent Secretaries in the State.

During the Executive Training on Simple Procurement Procedure and Audit Exercise, Professor Salawu emphasized the workshop’s relevance, particularly in the current climate where anti-graft agencies are intensifying their scrutiny of public office holders.

He stressed the importance of adhering to procurement rules to ensure that budgeted funds are utilized effectively, especially in a state with limited resources.

“The workshop is timely and diligent, aiming to conscientize, sensitize, and educate us on procurement procedures and laws,” said Professor Salawu. “As chief executives, it is crucial that we play by the rules to add value to the funds allocated to us and to remain financially prudent.”

Reflecting on the biblical adage, “My people perish because of lack of knowledge,” Professor Salawu highlighted the importance of continuous learning, especially in procurement, and expressed satisfaction with the workshop’s focus on enlightening participants about the legal and procedural aspects of the process.

In line with the university’s fourth anniversary, Professor Salawu proudly noted CUSTECH’s remarkable growth since its establishment in 2020 by former Governor Alhaji Yahya Bello.

He celebrated the university’s expansion, which now includes seven faculties and 46 accredited academic programs, making it one of the fastest-growing institutions in Nigeria.

“We are proud of what we have achieved in just four years. Today, CUSTECH is recognized for its rapid development, and we are committed to continuing this trajectory,” Professor Salawu concluded.

The anniversary celebration, coupled with the workshop, underscored CUSTECH’s commitment to excellence and growth, both in academia and in administrative practices.
