The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Security for Yagba West Council, Kogi State, Tade Oshaloto has called for compliance by the people of the local government with government directives as well as those of health authorities on safety measures to curtail the spread of the dreaded coronavirus in the country.
Oshaloto made the call in a statement he personally signed, Monday.
The call came on the heels of the state government circular to workers in the Kogi State civil service to work from home beginning from Monday, March 23, 2020.
Also, all primary and post-primary institutions in the state are to remain shut until further notice.
Oshaloto, in the statement, disclosed that plans were afoot to engage health workers in the local government “to fashion out ways of maintaining our calm and staying safe”.
He enthused that already, schools are now shut while good personal hygiene is being observed and commended local health authorities for their sacrifices.ย
ย According to the LG Chief, “The people of theย world is battling the dreaded COVID:19 and its devastating effects. Our world being just a neighborhood, we cannot but begin to get real and understand that we all are merely a grace away from the horrible virus.
“Because the God that we serve is a God of order, we must pause and rethink our compliance levels with instructions from health authorities.
“I therefore urge all of us to obey the directives of the state (and federal) government and the relevant authorities on how to stay safe.
“Also, I am engaging with local health authorities to fashion out ways of maintaining our calm and staying safe. I urge you all to avoid the spread of not just the Coronavirus but the virus of fake news which can cause panic and other dangerous reactions. This too shall pass, Amen”, he said.
