These are trying times all over the world, including our beloved country Nigeria. A time when a deadly disease called Coronavirus has taken its toll on the mass populace of even more sophisticated countries.
Emergencies have been declared all over the world without an exception of Nigeria. Government as a responsible entity has made tremendous efforts and achieved mileage in the dissemination of information about pros and cons associated with the deadly COVID-19.
As obedient citizens, it will do us a massive favour in other to avert a looming calamity and subsequently reduce the risk of spread. We can only help and compliment the efforts of the government by ensuring that laid down standards of procedures of association are followed.
In the wake of the outbreak and discoveries of some cases in Nigeria and particularly adjoining states that shares boundaries with our beloved state and in fact our beloved Yagba East, we are strongly advised to adhere to the following instructions and precautionary measures.
1. People are advised to stay a metre away from people with the following symptoms: sneezing, cough and other respiratory disorders.
2. It is advisable that we cover our faces with Medical Face Masks or Tissue Paper while coughing or sneezing and in situations where tissue paper is not available, please ensure you pose no danger to the public by sneezing or coughing into flexed elbow.
3. It is also important that our people avoid staying in crowded areas like religious places, markets and gatherings of more than 30 persons and to also wash their hands with soap.
4. Sanitizers should also be used to boost our resistance to the survival of the virus.
5. Our wards and children should also stay away from schools as a directive has been issued in this regard by the government of Kogi State.
6. Our highly treasured and valued civil servants have also been advised to stay away from work till further notice. This also extends to workers in the local government service.
Going forward, all markets which accommodates large number of people has been shut down while contingency plans are being put in place to ensure our people are not caught unaware.
I implore all to co-operate with the securities on ground whose duties are to ensure strict compliance with all safety directives.
Suspected cases should be reported immediately to the relevant authorities as emergency phone numbers have been made available to report such cases.

In conclusion, I pray this day that there shall be no loss in our beloved Yagba East but we must all help ourselves towards achieving a disease free society.
