An NGO, the CARES Foundation has distributed relief items as stimulus package for widows and the aged in Mopamuro LGA to cushion the effect of the ‘stay at home’ order as measures against the spread of coronavirus in Kogi state.
The Founder of CARES Foundation, Hon. Bolanle Bola-Olorunsaiye (Amupitan) while speaking with newsmen on Saturday in Mopamuro LGA, said that aside distributing relief items, the NGO had also sentised and enlightened the people on precautionary measures to be taken against the spread of Covid-19.
According to her, true friendship and love transcends beyond good times, but becomes meaningful in challenging times, as in the case of out break of the dreaded coronavirus in the nation and the world over.
”It is to the above effect and its routine engagements through her Thematic areas that the Community Assistance And Relief (CARES) Foundation reached out to people at a time like this.
”Covid-19 took the world by storm and while the Scientist are sweating in the laboratory to come out with vaccines and cures, it becomes imperative to stick with preventive habits and measures.
”The social distancing, lockdown and compulsory stay at home therefore aggravate the economic hardship on the greater percentage of the populace especially the vulnerables in our locality.
”To this effect, CARES Foundation was in Mopamuro local government to sensitize, educate and distribute a relief package tagged Covid-19 Relief Response,” she said.
She noted that the stimulus package ranges from Cash donation and food stuffs such as rice, beans, sugar, maggi, condiments among others.
