A Kogi State High Court sitting in Idah has adjourned a suit filed by the Ibaji Progressive Youth Foundation (IPYF) against the Chairman of Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State, Williams Obiora Iko-ojo, for violating their rights.

The group through their lawyers, Tope Temokun, had sued Iko-ojo for moving the Ibaji Liason Office to another local council, Idah.

Led by the National President, Comrade Apeh Kelvin, IPYF described the council chairman’s action as desecration of their political representation and economic opportunities.

The suit is seeking, among other reliefs, an order for the relocation of all administrative offices belonging to Ibaji Local Government from Idah back to Onyedega, the local government headquarters of Ibaji.

According to court documents sighted by our reporter, the youth group is also seeking an Order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further running or carrying out affairs of Ibaji local government in a different local government other than Ibaji.

The court had assigned the suit for hearing on November 22, 2021.

However, the defendant did not show up in court and the suit was adjourned to 20th December 2021.

The prosecutor informed the court that all the process about the case has been served on the defendants and they are yet to file a response.

Iko-ojo, represented by one A.O Otame, prayed to the court for an adjournment to enable them come and do the needful.
