‘Council Polls Will Hold This Year’ – Kogi SIEC Commissioner

Commissioner representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo constituency in the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Hon. Yakubu Chogudo has reiterated the commission’s determination to conduct credible local government polls in the state.

Chogudo confirmed that the much awaited council polls will hold before end of the year.

The KOSIEC Commissioner made this known in Okene on Friday when he paid the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters in charge of Okene Local Government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad a courtesy visit.

He commended Abdulrazaq for his uncommon humility, hard work and due diligence employed in the discharge of his duties especially the security of lives and property in the area.

Chogudo, who is also the Chairman of media committee for the commission, thanked the Local Government Chief Security Officer for the warm reception and conveyed the commission’s assurances of a credible, free, fair and peaceful local government council elections.

Responding, Hon. Abdulrazaq assured the KOSIEC Commissioner of his readiness to cooperate with the commission.

“I look forward to a credible and peaceful local government election in the state that  will be a model for others. We shall abide by the rules and regulations of the commission and indeed all the extant laws as we prepare for the poll,” he said.
