Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has restated that submission of lists of sponsored candidates by political parties to the commission would end on 19th October 2020 for the local government elections.
According to a statement yesterday by commissioner in charge of media and publicity, Alh. Yakubu Musa Chogudo, after KOSIEC’s weekly meeting, the commission can only accept lists submitted by chairmen and secretaries of the parties.
KOSIEC urged political parties to obtain their candidate forms starting from the 15 of October to the 19 of October, reiterating that the last date of submission is on the 19 of October, 2020.
The commission encouraged the representatives of political parties to adhere strictly to its time table as lateness in collection or submission of forms would not be entertained.
The chairman of the Commission, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, used the forum to commend all political parties for their peaceful conduct during the primary elections which had just been concluded at the various local government councils in the state.
He pleaded with all political party stalwarts to continue to maintain peace and order before, during and after the forthcoming local government election, adding that offenders of the law would face the wrath of the law.
Eri gave assurance that KOSIEC is already making a great move towards a successful local government election on December 12, 2020.
He promised that the local government polls will be transparent, free, fair and the best of its kind ever held in the state.
