Council Polls: KOSIEC to Monitor Party Primaries, Sues for Peace, Transparency

The Kogi State independent Electoral Commission, KOSIEC, as expressed its preparedness to closely monitor the primary elections by all the political parties in the state ahead of the forthcoming local government council elections.

Speaking at a meeting attended by all KOSIEC commissioners in Lokoja, the Chairman, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, charged the newly appointed Electoral Officers (EOs) and Assistant Electoral (AEOs) to monitor all party primaries in order to ensure that all the requirements and guidelines necessary for fair and transparent primary elections are strictly adhered to.

Eri also emphasized that KOSIEC Commissioners are expected to closely observe and monitor the primary elections in their respective federal constituencies, adding that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure free, fair, credible, transparent and peaceful electoral process.

He further pleaded with all the political parties to maintain the highest level of decorum and ensure that they honour their earlier promise to be peaceful and law abiding, adding that KOSIEC is adequately prepared for an election that will reflect the will of the people on 12th, December, 2020.
