Council Legislators Assures Ankpa LG Chairman of Speedy Passage of Sanitation, Four Others Bills

The Ankpa legislative council has promised to work on the executive bills transmitted to the House by the Executive Chairman with dispatch and accelerate its passage into law, so as to support the implementation of the 2021 Ankpa council budget.

A statement issued by the Special Assistant on media and publicity to the council chairman, Adams Mustapha Aikoye,  said the leader of legislative council, Charity Maha gave the assurance during a meeting with the council Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Abagwu in Ankpa, yesterday.

The council legislators said Bills on the establishment of community/neighborhood security vigilante, environmental sanitation in Ankpa local government area, prohibiting commercial vehicles from parking and loading outside government approved parks and mining hazard fees for private and corporate miners within Ankpa area will be processed speedily to help the LGA tackle insecurity and also help to stimulate the economy.

According to the statement, the executive bills presented before the house at the last plenary through the majority leader of the Legislative council, Hon. Sumaila Mohammed after extensive debates on the floor of the house has passed first reading, thereby noting that now it will soon be referred to various House Committees.

The executive chairman of the council said if the bills are well passed into law, it would enhance the security architecture of the the council and also reform extant fiscal policies to prioritise job creation, economic growth, socio-economic development, domestic revenue mobilisation, as well as foster healthy and cleaner environment for residents and also closer coordination with monetary and trade policies. 

He urged members of the public who wants to support or question the bills to please endeavor to write directly to the executive council for consultation and effectively response. 

In his remark, the deputy leader of the house, Hon. Ugbedeojo promised that the house will do their best to hasten the processes in passing the bills into law in order to enhance maximum security for residents.

“For the past two months, residents of Ankpa Local Government Area has been sleeping with their two eyes closed,” he said.

He also commended the executive Chairman for grading and opening up feeder roads within the local government area while appealing that the same gesture should be extended to their various wards.
