Cosmas Atabor Advocates for Peaceful Election, Donates Educational Materials

Igalamela/Odolu State Constituency lawmaker, Barr. Cosmas Atabor has called on youths in the constituency to embrace peace and shun acts of violence before, during and after the November 16 governorship polls in Kogi State.

Atabor made the plea during the recently concluded Igalamela Youths Dialogue, 2019. The event with the theme “Promoting Peaceful Coexistence Before, During and After Elections” was organised by the Igalamela Youth Renaissance Group in Ajaka the headquarters of Igalamela-Odolu local government area.

In his remark, Hon. Cosmas Atabor noted that “elections are not won through violence but by popularity. We have fought hard to put the dark days of unabated violence and wanton destruction during elections behind us. We are not unaware of the devastating consequences of electoral violence and we must work together to ensure that peace is maintained at all times in our local government”.

The lawmaker applauded the organisers of the Igalamela Youth Dialogue for the timely event and equally commended them for the “exciting and incisive lectures and debate held during the programme”. He donated handsomely in support of the event with educational materials to schools to support learning and pledged to sustain his support in all subsequent activities.

The Chief Administrator of Igalamela-Odolu local government area, represented by his Media Aide, Mr. Aaron Mathew also made generous cash donation in support of the group.

Similarly, the wife of the former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Chief Mrs Regina Ocheni, Mr Yunus Abdullahi, Mr. Friday Idachaba and Engr. Abubakar Edicha also supported the group with education instructional materials.

The Igalamela Youths Dialogue was also attended by prominent personalities including Alhaji Hayatudeen Sule, Ahaji Musa Adama, Youth groups, women association and youth leaders of all political parties in the area.
