The local government system selected few of her personnel as coordinators of the Federal Government program, Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO), to guide and coordinate the delegates of the federal government personnel in executing the program at the local level from house to house.

The said local government coordinators have been tasking beneficiaries at their various centers in Idah Local Government Area in Kogi state to pay a compulsory sum of two hundred naira (#200) for what they called “logistics”.

Logistics ?

From our investigation, the salaries and logistics of the coordinators and staff of the YESSO program has been taken care of by the federal government, so we wonder why the coordinators are extorting money from the poor beneficiaries in our various communities in Idah.

We call on Federal and Kogi state government to act positively and stop this corruption and extortion.

This money will be submitted to the Coordinators on the field by beneficiaries at their various gathering centers.

At Old Central Mosque, Ega, Idah the recorded list center for YESSO beneficiaries have a total record of 159 persons. If two hundred naira (#200) is multiplied by 159 beneficiaries it will amount to thirty one thousand, eight hundred naira (#31,800). That is just one gathering center of YESSO in Ega Ward and we have total of 4 gathering centers recorded in Ega Ward.
Here, you can imagine how much they will defraud the poor parents, brothers and sisters in our communities if you calculate all the gathering centers in Ega Ward and Idah Local Government Area in general.

The corruption in the local government system is worst than elsewhere. The fear of Allah (God) is nowhere to be found in those people can entrust their lives and properties in their hands any longer.

Most of these people will come out and start condemning both the federal and state government that Buhari government is bad, GYB government is bad yet they are the worst.

As I pen my petition against the local government coordinators, I beg the Federal Government and Kogi state government to do something fast to stop this act in Idah, Kogi State – Nigeria. It is time to right the wrongs in our communities.

– Comrade Isah Ahmed Abubakar (Captain).
Idah.
