Corps D’ Progressives Honours Education Commissioner, CUSTECH VC, Kogi Poly Rector, Others

A non governmental organization, Corps D’ Progressives, has honoured Kogi indigenes who has contributed immensely to education development in the state.

The organization bestowed awards of excellence on the state Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of the education sector in Kogi State.

Eleven other eminent personalities were also honoured at the 25th anniversary celebration and public lecture of Corps D’ Progressives held in Okene on Saturday.

President of the organization, Yunusa Jimoh, said the award serves as a symbol of appreciation for the recipient’s tireless efforts in uplifting the education sector.

In his speech, Hon. Wemi Jones encouraged Corps D’ Progressives to continue their excellent work and emphasized the importance of education in unlocking the potential of individuals and communities.

He dedicated the award to Governor Usman Ododo, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the government in advancing education.

The organization also honoured Alhaji Ibrahim Siyaka Anataku, a former banker and community leader; Mr Abubakar Otaru, a former cashier at Adavi local government area; Prof. Abdulrahman Aspita Salawu, the Vice Chancellor, Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara; and Prof Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.

Others were: Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic; Mr. Bernard Ehusani, a foremost educationist and former principal of Ebira Community Secondary School, Ogaminana; Alhaji S. S. Salami, a foremost educationist and former principal of Government Science Secondary School, Ogaminana; Hon Abdulmalik Abdullahi, Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Education; Hajia Maryam Ozioma Abedo Director General, Kogi State Pension Commission; Hon Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, the Auditor-General for Local Governments, and Hon. Ismaila Isah, the Special Adviser on Media to Kogi State Governor.
