Dear Comrade Suleiman Oberjer,
On behalf of myself, family and well-wishers, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you for your remarkable courage and unwavering commitment during the struggle for the zoning of the Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to Kogi West.
Though you contested vigorously and championed the lobbying process with passion and sincerity, the position was initially planned to be retained in Kogi East due to the influence of prevailing powers. Yet, despite the challenges, you did not relent. You stood firm, mobilized support, engaged stakeholders, and persisted even when the odds seemed heavily stacked against you.
Your resilience was not in vain. Your efforts contributed greatly to the eventual decision to zone the position to Kogi West—an achievement that will be remembered as a landmark victory for fairness, equity, and balance within the union. Although the position was eventually given to another person, history will record that you were the catalyst, the voice, and the force that made this breakthrough possible.
Leadership is not only about occupying a position; it is also about championing causes that uplift the collective. On this, you have excelled. Your dedication has strengthened the hope of many and reaffirmed the power of persistence in the pursuit of justice.
I celebrate you today, not just for the role you played, but for the honour, maturity, and sportsmanship you displayed throughout the process. May this success open new doors for greater responsibilities and higher accomplishments in the future.
Congratulations once again, Comrade.
Your legacy in this struggle is secured.
– Sule Iroko
Abuja.
