Community Elders Call on Kogi Govt to Establish Higher Institution in Dekina Town

Leaders from Dekina town in Dekina local government area of Kogi state have requested that the state government establish a higher institution in Dekina town.

The leaders made this request during a courtesy visit to the Chief Administrator of the council, Honourable Kabiru Idris in his office last week.

The leaders who spoke on the different needs of their community appealed to the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to help with the completion of Dekina township road, Dekina waterworks and electricity supply to the town.

Responding, Honourable Kabiru expressed his gratitude to the people for the visit. He told the entourage that the New Direction government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has directed the Commissioner for Works to order the contractors handling the said projects back to the road construction site.

Kabiru revealed that he has directed the AEDC manager to make sure that power is restored to Dekina town within 24 hours. According to him, the manager responded on the phone that light will be available within 5hrs.

He promised to discuss with appropriate ministry on the issue of water supply. While noting that the water supply project is beyond the capability of the local government, he promised to talk with the appropriate ministry to as a matter of priority give the project the needed attention.

The Chief Administrator admonished the people to always work with the government of the day to bring
development to the Local government.

The leaders pledged their unalloyed support for the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
