Senator representing Kogi East, Atai Aidoko Ali has congratulated Christians faithfuls on the celebration of Christmas. He urged them to put behind them the endless hardship that pervaded the land in the last three years in the state.
Aidoko made this remark in a message to mark this year’s Christmas and New year celebrations.
He commended the people of the area for their perseverance and courage, in spite of glaring provocation from constituted authorities.
Kogi East senator sympathized with the people on this sad development, particularly the civil servants and pensioners, who are breadwinner of their families yet could not guarantee a happy living for the family at this auspicious occasion.
Senator Aidoko advised the people that the “only way to detach themselves from thr afflictions perpetrated by leadership failures is to take their destinies in their hands to bring back the lost glory and backwardness witnessed in the last three years
“It is unimaginable that the working class at both the state and local government levels are not in celebration mood for lack of salaries and entitlements of pensioners over time.
“It has been the trend in the last three years with other festivities in and around the state. We didn’t bargain for all these. We hope to move out with our zeal and resilience,” he said.
Senator Aidoko saluted the courage of Kogi workers for not taking the laws into their hands, even with the charged environment. He urged them to remain peaceful and maintain the spirit of brotherliness amidst denials.
Chairman senate committee on SDGs urged the people of Kogi East to use the occasion to renew their spiritual beliefs, rededicate themselves to the great task ahead, geared towards liberating the good people of Kogi East in the shortest possible time.
“We are not unaware of our numerical strength in Kogi East as this is also the prerequisite to our political development and advancement. It behoves on us to use this template to arrest the dearth of human and infrastructural development staring us in the face in Kogi East.
“We must take the bull by the horns, fight legitimately the course of our people, ensure the political emancipation denied in the last few years and returned the area back to the glorious past.
“We should also use the occasion to pray for the Igala/Bassa race, to demonstrate utmost unity amidst diversity, and forge ahead genuine ideas of our liberation in all ramifications.
“The time is now, let us not be deceived by the current leaders and few collaborators that had no good intentions, but to form a formidable force into realising our good intentions and potentials for the progress of all.”
Senator Aidoko urged the Christians not to use the occasion to celebrate alone, through merriment but see it as an opportunity to extend goodwill to the Moslem brothers and sisters as well.
