The immediate past Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Yomi Kolawole, has called on Nigerians to consciously work towards uniting the nation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Prince Kolawole rejoiced with Christians on this year’s Christmas celebrations.

He noted that the unity of the nation is not negotiable, adding that Christians should use this season to pray for the peace of the nation.

He also admonished that prayers be offered for leaders in Kogi state and Nigeria.

“I want to call on Christians to emulate the virtues of Christ, who through self-sacrifice brought salvation to humanity. We must embrace love, peace and unity even as He first loved us by giving Himself for us.

“As we celebrate, may the good times and treasures of the present become the golden memories of tomorrow.

“Christmas reminds us of the reason for the season. It is a time to inspire hope and spread the message of love.

“On this auspicious occasion, I wish all Nigerians a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” he said.

He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for bringing the people of Kogi state together and making sure that the unity in the state is not tampered with in any way.

The former Speaker said Governor Bello has shown that he is a true leader that can weather the storm at any given time in view of his resilience in Nigerian politics.
